Advice

Are UV air cleaners worth it?

Are UV air cleaners worth it?

Short answer: No. Don’t buy a UV light air purifier or any air purifiers that use UV light as a key part of their purification mechanism. It’s dangerous and doesn’t work that well, especially without the use of other proven air filtration methods.

Are UV-C air purifiers effective?

Generally, studies have shown that portable UV-C light air purifiers have limited effectiveness against microorganisms and cannot address many pollutants like VOCs.

How do you install APCO UV light?

APCO-X is usually installed on the supply side duct just above the air system (upstream of a humidifier if there is one) but can also be installed on the return side if necessary. The APCO-X unit should be oriented so that the air flows past the UV Light first then into the Matrix Element.

How does the iWave work?

Through patented technology, the iWave replicates nature’s system of cleaning the air by creating positive and negative ions. These ions basically kill the viruses and other biological contaminants that pass through your ventilation system and render them harmless.

Are UV air sanitizers safe?

UV-C light, one of three types of ultraviolet light, is commonly used in air purification. When properly utilized and given enough exposure, this invisible form of light can safely target and kill mold and mildew.

Does UV-C produce ozone?

No, UV-C light does not produce ozone. However, the shorter Ultraviolet-V (UV-V at 185 nanometers) wavelength of UVV light actually generates ozone. This occurs because UVV light reacts with oxygen to break it into atomic oxygen, a highly unstable atom that combines with oxygen to form O3 (Ozone).

What is Fresh-Aire UV APCO?

The Fresh-Aire UV APCO is installed in the ductwork of your central air system and is designed to help reduce airborne odors, toxic chemical vapors, germs and mold in your home.

How will APCO-X improve indoor air quality?

It will revolutionize indoor air quality with significantly improved performance, functionality, and reliability. APCO-X combines UV-C light and our proprietary EverCarbon™ cells to safely reduce odor-causing VOCs and biological contaminants.

What is APCO and how does it work?

The combination of germicidal UV light and activated carbon cells inside APCO make it uniquely effective at reducing volatile organic compounds in the air without producing any harmful ozone. VOCs cause odors and include toxic chemical vapors like formaldehyde and toluene.

Are APCO-X filters UL listed?

They are then listed in the UL SPOT database of sustainable products APCO-X or APCO-X Dual (which includes a second UV-C light for coil disinfection) can be combined with our Purity Low Profile polarized electronic filter system for a complete and comprehensive indoor air quality solution.
