The AAMC Fee Assistance Program (FAP) assists those who, without financial assistance, would be unable to take the Medical College Admission Test® (MCAT®), apply to medical schools that use the American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®), and more.
How long does AAMC FAP last?
Fee Assistance Program benefits are available until the next calendar year on Dec. 31st regardless of when you apply and receive the award during the current application year and you may receive the award up to five times in a lifetime.
How many times can I apply for AAMC FAP?
Can I apply more than once? You may only apply once per calendar year and be awarded a maximum of five (5) times during your lifetime. Each award includes the MCAT, Medical School Admission Requirements (MSAR) online database, and AMCAS benefits.
How do you qualify for AMCAS FAP?
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicant’s full name must be included.
- Applicant’s current permanent U.S. address must be included.
- For identification (such as an ID), it must be unexpired.
- For documentation, it must be issued within the last 60 days of the date you submit your application.
How long does FAP last?
You can start using your benefits the same day you are approved for the FAP. Your benefits will expire at the end of the following calendar year. For example, if you submit your FAP application in 2020, then your benefits will expire on December 31, 2021.
How much is MCAT fee assistance?

Can you reapply for FAP AAMC?
FAP benefits approved in 2021 will be valid through December 2022. When you apply to medical school in 2023, you’ll reapply for FAP benefits in 2023; they will then be valid through 2024.
