What is a 17 Hornet?

The.17 Hornet is a.17 caliber centerfire rifle cartridge originally offered as a “wildcat cartridge” made by P.O. Ackley in the early 1950s. Because the .17 Hornady Hornet case is smaller than the .17 Ackley Hornet case, handloading data for the two cartridges should not be casually interchanged.
